Marijuana/Cannabis Addiction

Our certified treatment and rehab center offers a wide range of marijuana addiction treatment programs to help those whose marijuana (also known as weed, pot, herb, grass, ganja, bud, etc.) use is negatively affecting their lives.

At Rain Recovery, our marijuana addiction treatments are grounded in deep research. Our goal is to help you get sober and begin a new life that is enjoyable and fulfilling without alcohol or drugs.

Marijuana is a mind-altering (psychoactive) drug, produced by the hemp plant known as the Cannabis sativa plant. Marijuana contains over 480 constituents. THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) is believed to be the main ingredient that produces the psychoactive effect. The name “cannabis” refers to all drugs that derive from the Indian hemp plant. The main mind-altering psychoactive chemical found in marijuana is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is what gives you the “hit,” although there are also 500 other chemicals called cannabinoids in the hemp plant, including more than 100 that are related to THC.

Substance Use - Marijuana/cannabis Addiction
Hashish is a related drug that is made from Indian hemp plant resin and can be on average six times more potent than regular marijuana.
Hashish Oil (hash oil, liquid hash, cannabis oil) is produced by extracting the cannabinoids from the plant material with a solvent. The color and odor of the extract will vary, depending on the solvent used. A drop or two of this liquid on a cigarette is equal to a single marijuana joint.

Marijuana Detox and Withdrawal

You will be surprised to hear that marijuana can create mild withdrawal effects but they are not as severe as those of other drugs. The withdrawal effects of marijuana have been compared to the withdrawal effect of nicotine withdrawal as both drugs can spur cravings, cause anxiety, and increase irritability.

Symptoms of marijuana withdrawal include:

⦁ Reduced appetite
⦁ Sudden weight loss
⦁ Insomnia
⦁ Extreme fatigue
⦁ Restlessness
⦁ Depression
⦁ Mood swings
⦁ Agitation
⦁ Inability to experience pleasure

During marijuana addiction treatment, we offer a wide range of individual and group therapy options as well as experiential approaches that keep you active in recovery. These may include:

⦁ Acupuncture and massage
⦁ Adventure therapy
⦁ Psychodrama
⦁ Equine-assisted therapy
⦁ Yoga and mindfulness
⦁ Creative approaches—art and music
